The HI3826-025 are replacement reagents for the colorimetric determination of ammonia (as NH3-N) with the HI3826 Ammonia Test Kit for Seawater. There are enough reagents for approximately 25 tests to be used with Hanna’s test kit. These high quality reagents are manufactured in our state-of-the-art facility and are clearly marked with the lot number and expiration date on each packet for traceability.

The HI3826-025 are high quality reagents that are pre-measured, allowing for users to achieve fast and accurate ammonia measurements with the chemical test kit. These reagents follow the Nessler method to determine seawater ammonia concentration as ammonia-nitrogen (NH3-N).

 

For determination of ammonia, the Nessler reagent is added to the sample under alkaline conditions to react with ammonia. The reaction between ammonia and the mercury-containing reagent causes a yellow colored complex to form; the greater the concentration, the deeper the color. A color comparator cube is included for an accurate, side-by-side, visual analysis to determine ammonia concentration. These reagents are designed to be used with samples that have an expected ammonia range of 0.0 to 2.5 mg/L (ppm) NH3-N.
