The HI1413S/50 is a glass-body, single reference junction, pH electrode made with low temperature glass and a screw connector. This electrode has a unique open junction design with a viscolene (hard gel) electrolyte layer that is free of silver chloride (AgCl) between the sample to be measured and the internal reference cell. The open junction design resists clogging and the probe's flat tip makes it ideal for pH measurements on surfaces such as skin, leather, agar plates, and paper.

This electrode has a unique open junction design in which there is a viscolene (hard gel) electrolyte layer that is free of silver chloride (AgCl) between the sample to be measured and the internal reference cell. The open junction design resists clogging and the probe’s flat tip makes it ideal for pH measurements on surfaces such as skin and scalp. The HI14143/50 is recommended for use with Hanna’s HI99181 pH meter.

  • Open Junction
  • Flat Tip
  • Built-In Temperature Sensor

Hanna Instruments offers a wide variety of pH electrodes that are designed for many different applications. The type of glass used for sensing pH, bulb shape, body material, type of junction, type of reference and electrolyte used are just some of the design considerations.

The HI14143/50 uses low temperature (LT) glass, flat tip bulb, glass body, and open junction with viscolene gel electrolyte.

Glass

Low Temperature Glass Formulation

Low temperature glass membranes have a lower impedance and are suitable for samples at lower tempertures and lower conductivities. We select the highest quality compositions for our glass membrane sensors, ensuring the highest quality measurmemts with the greatest degree of accuracy. Because many food products are stored a low temperatures, the HI1413S/50 is suitable to use with samples with temperatures from 0 to 50°C.

Flat Tip

Flat Glass Tip

A flat tip profile allows direct surface measurement of a sample and are recommended to optimize surface contact for measurement on skin, leather, agar plates, paper, and samples that cannot easily be penetrated.

glass Body

Glass Body

The glass body is ideal for laboratory use. The glass is resistant to many harsh chemicals and is easily cleaned. The glass body also allows for a fast transfer of heat to the internal reference electrolyte. The mV generated by the reference cell is temperature dependent. The faster the electrode reaches equilibrium, the steadier the reference potential.

Open Junction

Open Junction Reference

The open junction design consists of a solid gel interface (viscolene) between the sample and internal Ag/AgCl reference. This interface not only prevents silver from entering the sample, but also makes it impermeable to clogging, resulting in a fast response and stable readings.

DIN connector

 DIN Connector

The HI14143/50 uses a quick connect DIN connector. This type of connector is made for Hanna meters that accept a quick connect DIN connector. The HI14143/50 is recommended for the HI99181 pH meter. Other type of connectors include BNC, screw type, T-type, and 3.5mm to name a few.
